Ani Choying Dolma Concert in Toronto
Raised $2,430 for Koshi Flood Survivors
On Friday, Aug 29, 2008 Ani Choying Dolma, a humble nun with a mesmerizing voice, was able to bring together Nepali and Tibetan community for a very noble cause. Her calming voice was able to spread serenity. Her songs, which were dedicated to humanitarian cause, were enlightening and inspiring. The songs and dances performed by local Tibetan and Nepali artists, including from the Danfe Band, which followed Ani Choying’s songs, were met by the audience with lots of cheers and applauds. NRN–Canada and Nepalese Canadian Janajati Association jointly organized Ani Choying Dolma’s Concert in Toronto. The funds raised from the concert would go towards helping the rehabilitation of the Koshi Flood Victims in Nepal. His Eminence Chokling Rimpoche graciously honored the event as the chief guest.
With only a week to plan and organize the event, the concert raised an impressive sum of $2,430. A total of 129 tickets were sold. His Eminence Chokling Rimpoche generously donated $500 to the cause. Another major contribution of $ 105 came from Mr. Dorjee Sherpa. Also, Shangrila Restaurant contributed 10% of their sales (at the venue). Another, $120 was donated by volunteers, performers and guests. A total of $2,430 was raised (after expenses) from the event.
NRN-Canada and Nepalese Canadian Janajati Association would like to thank all the volunteers and performers for making this a successful event. We would like to extend our special thanks to our friends from the Tibetan Community for supporting the event. Above all, we would like to thank Ani Choying Dolma for not only volunteering to perform live, but also taking an active role in organizing the event. We would also like to thank the Masaryk-Cowan Community Center for providing the venue for free. Last but not the least; we would like to thank everyone who participated in the event for coming out for the cause.Place: Montreal, Canada
